Budgetary allocation and enrolment in technical colleges in Ogun states, Nigeria, 2001-2020
Abstract:The study investigated Budgetary Allocation and Enrollment in Technical and Colleges in Ogun State, Nigeria. Specifically, the study examined the trend in students demand as well as the extent of investment in Technical and Vocational in Ogun State, South west, Nigeria. The study adopted descriptive research design and the targeted population for this study comprises 2051 students and 7 principals in 7 technical colleges in Ogun State, Nigeria. Multi-stage sampling procedure was adopted to select participants for this study. In the first stage, 50% (4 out of 7) of the technical colleges in the selected states were randomly selected for this study, while at the second stage, 20% given a sample of 410 of the students of technical colleges in Ogun State from the total population 2051 were randomly sampled. The study raised two research questions and one hypothesis. The research questions raised were analyzed using descriptive statistics such as mean, standard and deviation while the hypothesis raised was tested using multi-nominal regression analysis at 0.05 level of significance. The level of demand for technical colleges in Ogun State is quite impressive. The study further found that, The ETCs increased by 1.5% from the year 2001 to 2020, while there was no much increment in BA for education from 2001 to 2020 except between 2014 and 2015 Ogun State got increment of 34%.
